You just never know what you’re going to find at a garage sale and most times the little things are the most fun – especially when they start out looking like they’ve had a really rough life!
The two ‘treasure’ boxes with square drawers shown here were coming apart at the seams and needed more than a little wood glue. I then added ball feet and top spindles and, after repainting everything, replaced the drawer knobs with old-fashioned antique ring pulls.
The little miniature armoire was in the worst shape of all. It had so many coats of paint the columns on the doors were bumpy and might as well have been painted with chunky peanut butter, and none of the drawers would close all the way. Lots and lots of sanding was needed on this one! When I finished painting I replaced the badly damaged drawer pulls with some little silver balls I found in a jewelry shop.
After that I cleaned Hobby Lobby out of wooden candle holders and painted a set to match each box!
